Today JustClaim is opening its court-claim API to AI agents. If your AI assistant (ChatGPT, Claude, or any agent that knows about JustClaim) knows about JustClaim, you can ask it to file a money claim on your behalf. The agent stages the claim through our API, we send you a link to review, sign, and pay, and we file with the County Court of England and Wales.
What this actually means
Here is the experience. You describe a debt to your AI assistant: who owes you money, how much, and why. The agent gathers any missing facts (the defendant's address, the particulars of claim) and calls the JustClaim API. We stage the claim and return a checkout URL. You click that link, read your particulars in plain English, confirm the details are correct, and sign the statement of truth. You pay the JustClaim fee and court filing fee in one go. We then print and post the N1 claim form to the court on your behalf.
The human moments stay human. You read the particulars. You sign the statement of truth with your own name. You enter your own card details at checkout. The agent prepares the paperwork; it never signs anything and never touches your payment. That boundary is deliberate and it matters: the statement of truth carries a contempt-of-court warning, so only the claimant can sign it.

Why we did it
Every week, people lose money they are legally owed because they do not know that the County Court process exists or they find it too daunting to start. AI assistants are already the place millions of people go when something goes wrong. They ask “can I sue my landlord?” or “what do I do if a contractor takes my money and disappears?” If the answer is “yes, here is how”, the next natural step is doing it right there in the same conversation. We wanted to make that possible.
The court system is not going to add a chat interface. That is not a criticism; courts handle an enormous range of case types and jurisdictions. JustClaim focuses on one thing: getting a valid N1 claim form in front of a county court judge as quickly and cheaply as possible. Putting an API in front of that process means your assistant can do the legwork while you stay in the loop for the decisions that only you can make.
What we deliberately did not do
The agent never signs the statement of truth. The agent never enters card details. We are providing a tool the human still drives, not autonomous filing. The checkout URL we return is tied to a single session; only the person who clicks it can complete the claim. We will not build a mode that lets an agent bypass those steps, and agents that attempt to submit without human sign-off will receive an error.
What you can file today
N1 money claims only in this phase. Any amount from £1 to £100,000, in England and Wales. On the roadmap: a pre-action letter before action (LBA), a Financial Ombudsman Service complaint letter, and an Irish statutory demand under section 570 of the Companies Act. Those will follow the same agent-friendly API pattern as the N1 claim.
